We’ve all heard the theories concerning 6 degrees of separation and I’m a firm believer that they are not theories, but reality. I’ve been fortunate enough to meet a lot of people in my life and I’ve always been able to find some sort of connection to them. In recent years I’ve become involved with a variety of social media sites (Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, 4 Square, etc…). By no means am I a social media expert or guru (I’m more of a fan/aficionado) and I’m intrigued by the possibilities presented by today’s social media options and how we’re all interconnected.
Statistics tell us that we all share another connection as well… one that is much darker: a connection to cancer. That’s a connection that none of us wish we shared. I’d much rather know you as my friend, colleague, friend of a friend, Twitter follower, etc. than know you because you have a connection to cancer as well.
We can leverage the power of social media, emphasize our POSITIVE connections, and work to minimize the negative ones by becoming more aware and by donating to help find a cure.
This page is meant to be a place where you can share your story, your ‘cancer connection’, with everyone else and establish a better, positive connection with those people. I’m looking forward to reading your stories and strengthening our connection in a positive way!
